Quilting For A Cause

2018 was the 12th year for Good Sam Quilter’s, Barbara Rohrbeck, to raffle a hand sewn quilt at the Good Sam State Rally to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network.  This year’s quilt was designed around a combination of the 2018 rally theme of “Louisiana Cooking” and the designation of “Frog Capital of the World” given to the host city of Rayne, LA.

Barbara enlists the help of fellow rally members in the hand sewing/quilting component of the quilt construction. At the conclusion of the week, the completed quilt is hung and raffled off to a lucky member.

This year it was fitting that Gayle, a NICU nurse, won the quilt, as she knows first hand the depth of the health needs for the tiniest members of our communities.

Barbara and Walter Rohrbeck donated all raffle proceeds to the Children’s Miracle Network at CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital. These monies provide life saving equipment, services and charitable care to all kids in Central Louisiana including those who are poor and under served.  The impact of the Rohrbeck’s donation is felt by local kids in Cabrini’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Therapy Center and 17 School Based Health Centers.  No amount is too small or large for giving, as every penny stays local to help kid’s survive and thrive.
