Celebrating Louisiana Athletic Club and Miracles

Louisiana Athletic Club hosted their 2nd Annual Miracle Run 5K on Saturday, April 28.  Members and partners came to Alexandria, LA in support of the yearly event that raises money for their local Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospital, CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital. It was made possible by Major Sleeve Sponsor, Hixson Ford and community partners such as Crest Industries, Premier Pediatrics, Pepsi, Roy O Martin, Tarver Building Supplies, Pineville Rotary Club, Run Wild, Sweet Frog Frozen Yogurt, Hill Top Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and La. Physical Therapy Centers of Pineville.

More than 100 runners took to the course in the Charles Park area of Central Louisiana.  A great morning of running was capped off with an after-run brunch from Pepsi, Chick Fil-A, Outlaws Hospitality Group and Wildwood Pizza.  Additionally, a plethora of awesome door prizes were given out to runners from CMN supporters such as Little Cakes, Good People Kitchen, Hoity Toity, The Atrium Spa and Louisiana Athletic Club.

Many runners had a chance to meet one of CMN’s local heroes, Brady Cooper, who was born 3 months premature – weighing just 1 lb. 2 oz.  Brady fought multiple procedures and setbacks, spending his first 65 days of life in the CHRISTUS Cabrini Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).  Without CMN dollars to fund world class treatments, equipment and training, Brady may not be in the condition he is in today. He said a few words to the runners and surprised all of us with the Pledge of Allegiance over the intercom!

A highlight of the LAC Miracle Run was the unique keepsake medals that the first 150 runners received.  They were unlike any other and signified the connection between LAC and the Children’s Miracle Network at CHRISTUS Cabrini Hospital.

Kellie Flynn Freebeck, CMN Program Manager with the CHRISTUS Cabrini Foundation, recently celebrated LAC and their wonderful employees for all they do to support kids at CHRISTUS Cabrini Hospital.  LAC raised over $4,000 in 2018 alone through events like the LAC Miracle Run.  CHRISTUS Cabrini Foundation recognized Scott Cochran, CHRISTUS/LAC Director of Health & Wellness, and key LAC associates such as Leah Flynn, Ronnie Schwartz, Calleen Eyre,  Kaitlyn Folse, Garrett Corley and many others for their efforts to change lives and health for Central Louisiana children.
